The history of Lase
LASE was founded on 15 May 1990 in Hünxe, Germany. From the very beginning, the focus was on precision laser measurement technology for demanding applications in heavy industry.
One of the first projects was the development of laser distance meters for the Krupp Mannesmann steelworks in Duisburg. There, they were used to measure the level of ladle contents in the steelworks. The particular challenge lay in measuring reliably and precisely, even on hot surfaces.
With this pioneering spirit, LASE consistently expanded its product portfolio. 2D laser scanners have been part of the company’s range since 2001, and in 2005, the company developed its first in-house 3D laser scanner. At the same time, LASE Systemtechnik GmbH in Bremen was established to provide the necessary software expertise for processing complex 2D and 3D measurement data.
Today, LASE stands for innovative sensor solutions, precise laser measurement technology and intelligent software. Companies in industry and automation worldwide rely on our systems when efficiency, safety and accurate measurement data are essential.

Since 2004, LASE’s activities have been consolidated under the umbrella of LASE Industrielle Lasertechnik GmbH in Wesel. The Bremen site continues to operate as a branch office and remains instrumental in the development of high-performance software solutions for complex measurement tasks.
LASE’s range of services extends from precise distance measurements to complex laser measurement systems for industrial applications. The offering includes components, complete system solutions and customised software for the reliable evaluation of measurement data, even under the most demanding operating conditions.
A particular focus is placed on providing close support for every project. From the initial consultation through technical planning to professional commissioning, experienced engineers and technicians with practical expertise are on hand to assist.
Today, LASE’s measurement systems are used worldwide in applications such as port and crane facilities, for profile and volume determination in stockpiles and bunkers, and for the measurement of steel products. In addition to the steel industry, the port and mining sectors have also established themselves as key business areas.
With increasing internationalisation from 2007 onwards, the company’s global presence was systematically expanded. A key milestone was the establishment of a sales office in Shanghai in 2008. Furthermore, the international network was expanded to include numerous distributors.
Today, LASE stands for precise laser measurement technology, intelligent sensor solutions and tailor-made software for industry worldwide.

With the establishment of LASE PeCo Systemtechnik GmbH in 2008, LASE specifically expanded its range of services for customers outside the traditional industrial sector. The company develops solutions for security applications, building monitoring, field monitoring and intelligent people counting.
LASE thus complements its portfolio with precise system solutions for security, monitoring and the tracking of visitor flows. Customers benefit from state-of-the-art sensor technology, practical software and reliable applications for a wide range of applications.
