Cabin Position Detection / Module of Multifunctional System LaseMF-1
During the container deposit process to the chassis, the function module checks whether the truck’s cabin is outside the operation area of the spreader and the container, to prevent that the container will be deposited onto the cabin.
The Application
LaseMF-1-CPD is part of the LaseMF-1. LaseMF-1 is a modular, multifunctional laser measurement system based on multilayer laser scanner technology for yard cranes. The MF-1 offers several function modules that can be selected separately or combined as required by the customer. The selected function modules determine the number and positioning of the laser scanners.

LaseMF-1-GCP-ML - Gantry Collision Prevention
The function module observes the area in front of the crane and
detects whether objects are in the driving path. The function includes
crane-to-crane collision prevention. The 3D-Multilayer Laser Scanner can detect objects lying on the ground.
LaseMF-1-TLP-ML - Truck Lifting Prevention
During the lifting of the container, the function tracks the container and the structure of the chassis. If the chassis and the container are both lifted together, the function detects the lifting of the chassis and sends an alarm to the crane PLC.
LaseMF-1-TPS - Truck Positioning System
The function module measures the position of the chassis and the container on the chassis. It provides feedback to the truck driver via digital displays of the distance between the chassis centre/container centre and the crane’s centre. The function increases the productivity of the crane.
LaseMF-1-LCPS-ML - Load Collision Prevention System
The function module prevents collisions between the load (the spreader with or without a container) and the stack. For RTG cranes, measurements are performed only in the trolley travel direction, covering both the operational bay and the adjacent bays. For RMG cranes, measurements are performed in both the crane and trolley travel directions, thus providing collision prevention coverage across the entire yard.
The LaseMF-1-LCPS-ML function also includes a soft-landing function.
LaseMF-1-ESD - Empty Space Detection
Before and during the deposit of a container, the function module measures whether the space on the chassis is empty.
LaseMF-1-TMD - Truck Movement Detection
During the loading and unloading process, the function module detects if the truck is moving.
LaseMF-1-ASTO - Area Surveillance Truck Operation*1
While the chassis is being loaded, the function module monitors the operation area to see if a person is near the truck. If this is the case, the system raises an alarm so that the hoist motion will then be stopped.
*1 The ASTO function is limited due to the scanners’ restricted view of the yard-facing side when a container is positioned on the chassis.
