LaseUCD-STS
Unremoved Cone Detection for STS cranes

LaseUCD-STS assists the crane operator by automatically detecting twist locks or locking cones that have not been removed, helping to prevent unplanned downtime. With the ability to simultaneously monitor up to 16 twist locks, LaseUCD-STS is suitable for use on lashing platforms in STS crane systems.
The Application
LaseUCD-STS is a 3D laser measurement system based on four 2D laser scanners designed to detect twist locks or locking cones that have not been removed.
The laser scanners are installed on the STS crane structure in such a way that the relevant container areas are reliably captured during the lifting process.
The captured measurement data is processed by the LaseUCD-STS
application software and combined to form a precise 3D profile of the monitored container areas.
Based on this, the system detects whether any locking elements
are still attached to the container. If so, an alarm signal is automatically sent to the crane PLC so that the lifting movement can be reduced in a timely manner.
By using four 2D laser scanners, up to 16 twist locks can be monitored simultaneously on the spreader, depending on the container configuration.
