Challenge 1: Preventing load collisions in container stacks
Load Collision Prevention with LaseLCPS-3D-2D
A recent order from a Port Equipment Manufacturer in Shanghai includes
12x certified LaseLCPS-3D-2D systems (Load Collision Prevention Systems).
The operational challenge behind this type of application is clear: during container handling activities, containers and spreaders operate in an environment where collisions just wait around the corner.
LaseLCPS-3D-2D combines a 3D and a 2D laser scanner mounted underneath the crane trolley. The system monitors the container stack in both relevant travel directions and continuously determines the stack topography. Based on this information, potential collision points are detected dynamically.
At the same time, the integrated soft landing function supports controlled container placement. This can reduce mechanical wear and noise during set down operations while supporting reliable crane movement around the stack.
The requirement
Reliable information about the container stack and potential collision zones during crane movement and prevention of collisions between the spreader and load and the containers in the stack.
The LASE approach
Continuous stack profiling and laser based collision prevention using combined 3D and 2D measurement technology.
