New product for STS cranes
LASE is expanding its solutions for container handling with an intelligent new function for modern terminal processes: LaseUCD-STS.
LaseUCD-STS is a 3D laser measurement system developed for STS cranes. Based on four 2D laser scanners, the system detects twistlocks or locking cones that have not been removed and creates a precise 3D profile of the monitored container areas during lifting. If a hazardous situation is identified, an alarm signal is automatically sent to the crane PLC so that the lifting movement can be reduced or stopped in time.
What makes this solution especially relevant is the specific operational problem it addresses. LaseUCD-STS detects unremoved twistlocks or locking cones and helps prevent dangerous lifting movements as well as damage to containers, cranes and terminal infrastructure. At the same time, it improves process reliability during container handling and reduces the risk of unplanned downtime. Crane operators receive automatic feedback at an early stage, making critical situations easier to identify and avoid.
For existing STS crane systems, this is particularly valuable because LaseUCD-STS can be retrofitted as an additional monitoring function without fundamentally changing the entire crane process. The system supports the operator, helps reduce workload in complex lifting operations and can monitor up to 16 twistlocks simultaneously, depending on the container configuration. .
